Welcome to the Village Pump Folk Festival

Village Pump Folk Club Trowbridge presents the Village Pump Folk Festival. One of the UK’s best festivals located on the stunning site of the White Horse Country Park, Westbury Wiltshire. Running in July (2016 from 22nd to 24th July) the festival offers the visitor the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music from all over the UK and beyond; opportunities for participation in the VP choir or Open Mic slots together with a full programme for children. The festival musical soundtrack is all accompanied by a terrific range of the very best in festival food and drink as well as a great range of craft and other stalls.

From early Friday evening to last thing Sunday night your weekend ticket enables you to see our great range of performers for around 30 plus hours across four stages. The festival’s production standards are second to none – we use the very best in providers of sound and lighting! Plus – your weekend ticket also enables you to take advantage of FREE camping or caravanning on the well-provided White Horse Country Park.

You can see the full details of this year’s guest artists here on the website but we are proud that our programming enables you to see and hear the well-established great names of UK folk/roots music.

Plans are in overdrive for this years festival and the artist list is being updated daily. I am still awaiting confirmation from a well known singer/songwriter/guitarist but may well have to look elsewhere if it takes any longer. As anyone who has been to the festival at our great White Horse Country Park site will know we can boast very high production values for a small festival. All venues under cover, top quality sound, great lighting (including illuminating the White Horse) a good variety of food and drink. The bars at the 2015 event were able to offer 15 beers including a special brew called Phil Beer.

The White Horse site is very well drained (just as well in 2015), flat and easy to get in and out and all camping is just a short walk from the venues. Unlike some other festivals camping and car parking is included in the ticket price.

It is worth saying that the festival is run entirely by un-paid volunteers who just want to put on the very best in folk/acoustic/roots music and dance in a relaxed way. Add to this a full programme of events for families (yes Kooky and Wolly will be there),Yoga, Tai Chi and Nia sessions, all in a great location and you can see why THE VILLAGE PUMP FOLK FESTIVAL keeps on bringing the Pumpers back each year. I do hope that if you have never been you may feel that it is worth giving it a try this year, you would be very welcome to join us for THE BEST LITTLE FEST IN THE WEST.

See you there, John Alderslade (Festival Director)
